DRDO has developed ATAGS that takes a part of 21 gun salute on Independence Day 2022
Defense research and development organization (DRDO) has developed the 155mm/52 caliber advanced towed artillery gun system (ATAGS). The advanced towed artillery gun developed by two industries partner named TATA advanced system Ltd and BHARAT Forge Ltd. It will be the first time in history that has been carried out by the World War II vintage 25 pounder guns. The two ATAGS Guns will be a part of 7, 25-pounder guns that go off in a closely simultaneously action with the unfurling of the national flag and anthem from the first gunfire to the last.
All the seven artillery guns fire three rounds each but this time, there will be two rounds fire decided. And this thing does by two ATAGS Guns.
The 21-gun salute would be carried out by blank rounds in ammunition which are provided by the Ordnance Factory Board. Army Headquarters is planning to phase out this World War 2 vintage 25-pounder gun with a 105mm Indian Ordnance cannon due to the antiquated nature of this gun and is working to develop a blank round that delivers the correct decibel of sound.
